Got something to share that matters deeply?
|
If a TED Talk is on your bucket list, you already know that a clear, compelling Idea Worth Sharing is the (pounding) heart of any TED Talk.
If you have the TED dream and want to start applying, better make sure your idea is solid. How? Test it with the TEDx Idea Checklist, then listen to the TEDx Starter Kit. Both free resources are here. |
The biggest mistake people make
The biggest challenge I've seen in both TED speakers and business owners is you're so close to your work, you can't NOT see it from your own perspective. Until you get out of your head and start seeing your idea from the audience's viewpoint, you'll lose them. They won't even hear you. (Remember Ginger? She's your audience.) |
The Big Idea Accelerator changes how you think about your work
Most Big Ideas start out carrying a lot of extra weight. It's hard to know what's not working when you're inside your own head. Ever heard the editorial phrase "kill your darlings?" You'll learn what a Big Idea is—and what needs to be "dispatched"—in module one.
Years spent helping TEDx speakers shape and refine their Big Ideas lets me spot the pearls (and the pitfalls) in an instant. And a career spent helping visionary leaders and out-of-the-box entrepreneurs with their branding has taught me exactly how stuck wicked-smart people get.
Questions are my WD40. They unstopper resistance and reframe obstacles. The second module dishes up a series of mind-blowing breakthroughs around resistance. No hyperbole here: this material will change everything forever—speaking, sales, marketing, habits, relationships...everything.

This means if you're giving a talk or connecting with customers, they need help tuning back in. Give your audience a map so they can follow you. For ideas, that map is called a throughline. You'll explore that in module four.
Whether your desire is to land a powerful talk that changes minds, create business messaging that invites new customers, or simply to turn a jumble of thoughts into a clear, beautiful presence you can step into, this 4-week course will turn on the runway lights for your Big Idea, big time.

PLEASE NOTE: This course will not help you develop an entire talk, TED or otherwise. While you will receive loads of speaking tips and strategies, the Big Idea Accelerator focuses on developing and refining your central idea and the throughline that brings that idea to life.
DISCLAIMER: Registering for this course and applying focused, determined efforts WILL increase the clarity and quality of your idea or topic. However, absolutely no promise is made or implied that you will be accepted as a speaker at a TEDx event.
