Weird, cool, and exciting stuff
I tend to find people who do weird, cool, exciting stuff. When I encounter fabulous things out there, I want to share them.*
Our family has a history of messing around in the shop. A long time ago, that led a German ancestor to start a furniture company in the middle of the California Gold Rush. As kids, we messed around in shops—grandpa's and dad's. That's what my sister did when the shutdown happened—and the result was utterly unexpected: a Tahoe table that became a twin sister powered family business that turned a pandemic pause into a wild success. I'm a tiny bit proud of them. (Click any pic to enlarge.)
Muse Meditation brainwave reader
Want to improve your focus and meditation skills? A headband wired with EEG leads tracks your brain activity in real time. In the app you can choose a soundscape (rainforest, say) and as you quiet your mind, the rain gets quieter. Start getting distracted? The rain gets louder. IT'S SO FUN! Then you can see how you did (click the image to enlarge). The day my Muse came I meditated four times! I had no idea this could be so fun or that I could actually play games with my brain. Now when I wonder what to do with some spare time, I think oooh! Muse! and dive in.
